Well it's one of those "good news, bad news" things: On one hand, if you haven't got a clue how to go about "being psychic," then a Remote Viewing / Psychic "Method" (commonly known by acronyms or owner-names such as CRV, SRV, TRV, ORV, WRV, Silva, TDS's, HRVG's and more) will give you a paint-by-number plan (as I call it) for doin' the Hokey Pokey the way somebody else thinks it oughtta be done.
|
Important: DO NOT confuse "methodologies", which some choose to call 'protocols', with The Remote Viewing Protocol that you hear scientists and masterViewers like McMoneagle refer to. The RV Protocol is a science protocol, which can set method conditions but generally does not. The RV protocol sets what you might call the situation that a method (or none) would be used within. No matter how official your method-called-RV-protocols, if you aren't using that method inside an RV Protocol then it isn't technically RV; it is psychic work. And that's fine too.

In some cases, these methodologies have been designed by someone who actually knows what they're doing as a psychic and as a layman researcher, which means some aspects of them may have some basis in science, and some may have some basis in experience, and yet others will have a basis in 'theory' yet, theory from someone accomplished. Methods may be geared toward communication, or toward internal process, or both.

Personally, I recommend you "try your psi" for quite some time on your own (I'm talking about six months of daily practice) and then get familiar with one or more methods. After all, you can always pay for training, at any time. But you can only teach yourself and see what you innately are like inside, once. If you want to just dive in, do something, see what others are doing, get some advice from others etc., I recommend you visit the TKR Galleries at RVGalleries.com for some hands-on work. There are individual targets, group targets, and you can be anonymous if you're shy. You can also use any or no method or your own, or any other kind of 'divinatory psi'. If you just want to talk about Remote viewing, psychic functioning, or in fact any topic that might be of interest to viewers, you can visit the TKR Web Forum at RVWebforum.com instead.

In other cases, they are just "documented ideas" by people who used a methodology(s) and then had an idea for tweaking it, torquing it, folding it, mixing it, or inserting other things into it. Sometimes this might be an improvement, sometimes it might be more harm than help, sometimes it might be neutral in the end yet have trod over an important theory the revisor never really knew about or understood.
It really takes serious work on your own RV to have any ability to judge the value of someone else's RV "method" on the merits of how well it would work for you. Just because a method works for one person or some people doesn't mean it'll work for everybody else. As much as we like to use the computer analogy for the brain, in Remote Viewing the analogy is a lot closer to conscious dreaming than a database query, and your RV is as unique as your dreams. There may be symbols, archetypes, experiences or tendencies that you find 'in common' with some others, but there is no single manual that can tell you consistently what any given experience means for you.

If you really want personal instruction, I suggest you visit the TKR Web Forum (message board) at RVWebforum.com and check out the "RV Professional Biz/Orgs" section. You'll see information about a variety of persons/schools who offer methodologies for remote viewing there, and some information about them, and links to more info.

The thing to bear in mind is that everybody is unique and lots of people have good insights. And lots of people don't. So RV is no different than anything else in the world: take any promises with a truckload of salt and keep your wallet close to your skin.
See below for links. 3/8/05: A couple more are coming. I'm putting this up before the rest of the site is finished, so people can get the links to the SRV items. -- Palyne
